Kolding River (Kolding Å) snakes through the city of Kolding. Along the river is a system of paths, which feature great city spaces. These “Åsteder” are places where you can relax, chill out with your friends, exercise or play.
In 2010, the city council decided upon a comprehensive strategy for the Kolding River. The aim was to use the great recreational potential of the Kolding River. The stretch from Kolding marina to the stadium in Kolding River valley would be turned into a lively and attractive part of Kolding city.
A comprehensive path system has since been established. The paths are of good quality and have energy-efficient lighting. On this stretch of the path, are 15 small city spaces for taking a break and enjoying activities. These places are called ‘Åsteder.’
The individual ‘Åsteder’ have been created in collaboration with neighbours, designers, consultants and others. Shapes and colours are repeated to connect the city spaces.
‘Åstederne’ are modern urban design, which support the vision of the municipality: “Kolding – we design life”.
